A Brief History of the Crim Festival of Races
The Crim Festival of Races has been a cornerstone of Flint since its inception in 1977. Founded by Bobby Crim, a former Speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives, the race began as a 10-mile run to raise funds for a local charity. Over the years, it has grown into a multi-day event attracting runners from across the country.
The Crim is more than just a race; It showcases the resilience and unity of the community, drawing in participants of all ages, races, genders and abilities. The addition of events like the Lois Craig Invitational, which provides a platform for Special Olympics athletes, and the Teddy Bear Trot for children, further showing the inclusive nature of this festival.
As Flint continues to evolve, the Crim remains a symbol of the city's endurance.
