Don't be a Sucker

Flint, Mi- In 1942, the U.S. War Department released "Don’t be a Sucker", a short film designed to warn Americans about the dangers of prejudice, propaganda, and fascist ideologies.

"Don't be a Sucker" was created by Richard Collins and produced by the United States Army Signal Corps

The film follows our everyman Mike who witnesses a street speaker sowing division and blaming different groups for society’s problems. An immigrant who fled Nazi Germany explains how similar rhetoric led to the rise of fascism overseas, serving as a powerful reminder of how hate and discrimination can dismantle a society.

Though decades have passed, we continue to see the same tactics at play today. Political division, scapegoating, and misinformation still fuel distrust and weaken communities.

The lesson? Don't be a sucker. Unity is strength.
