Flint, Mi - It was a tough loss for the Flint Firebirds on Wednesday night. The Firebirds struck first during a 5-on-3 power play in the second period. Nathan Aspinall found Kaden Pitre open at the right circle. Pitre ripped a shot passed Jackson Parsons, putting the Firebirds up 1-0.

Later in the second, Flint added to their lead. Rylan Fellinger with the assist, passed to Matthew Wang, who skated to the high slot and cracked a shot into the back of the net, pushing the lead to 2-0.

Kitchener wasn’t going down without a fight though. Literally and figuratively. 18 seconds after Wang’s goal, Adrian Misaljevic sets up Hunter Swick for a one-timer that beats Nathan Day, cutting Flint’s lead in half. Kitchener capitalized on a delay of game penalty shortly after. Misaljevic found the back of the net with a rebound to even the score at 2-2. The tensions were high and both teams wanted the win. Gloves were dropped multiple times throughout the game.

In the third period, Swick struck again. Luca Romano set him up for another shot on goal, which glanced off the post and past Day, giving the Rangers their first lead of the game at 3-2. Flint pulled Day for an extra attacker in the final minutes, but despite the pressure, they couldn't find the back of the net in time.

Nathan Day stopped 26 of 29 shots in goal for Flint, while Jackson Parsons turned away 18 of 20 for Kitchener. The Firebirds' record falls to 3-2-0-0, while the Rangers improve to 3-2-1-0.
