Once in a Blue Super Moon

On August 19th, 2024, we will have the pleasure of experiencing a rare event: a blue moon alongside a supermoon. Holy crap right!? Well, if you are like me, you might be wondering what that even means.

A blue moon refers to the occurrence of two full moons in the same calendar month. Although the name does not describe the actual color of the moon, it marks an unusual event in the lunar calendar. Or... you know, "Once in a Blue Moon".

A supermoon is when a full moon coincides with the moon's nearest approach to Earth, known as "perigee", making it appear larger and brighter than normal.

Will the moon live up to the hype!? Take a peek tomorrow night and let me know what you think!
