Flint, Mi - The Flint City Times would like to officially endorse Leon EL-Alamin for 1st Ward Councilmember. The election for the 1st Ward City Councilmember is extremely important to the shaping of Flint for the next 4 years and beyond. This will also directly affect the appointment of the next 3rd Ward Councilmember. Please understand I do not take this lightly. Hopefully, our time together so far shows that I simply just want the best for Flint.
I am aware of Leon's incarceration; I am also aware of the video of him holding a legal firearm during an unfortunate legal eviction. Please look into him and the Made institute. This is a very real program that takes inmates and helps them transtioning back into daily life after being incarcerated. If you have character concerns, please just look him up. He takes great pride in the work that he puts into the 1st Ward.
One of the many pictures of him on Facebook working in his Ward.
There is misinformation being spread that a vote for Leon is a vote against the Hasselbring Senior Center.
This is factually not true. If you look over the city council transcripts, he has been in support of the seniors at every meeting. If you look at his Facebook, you see the literal work and sweat he put into the senior center over the summer. What other Council Member do you see painting, and landscaping the Senior Center? I have personally spoken with 2 faculty members who asked to remain anonymous, they both had nothing but positive things to say about Leon.
While Leon could definitely polish up his public interactions, he is the right choice for the city council and the right choice for Flint.
If you question the article, my thoughts, my motives, don't take my word for it. Understand that your vote is important and you should be making an informed desicion. Investigate! Look at how his time is spent in his Ward. Feel free to do the same for his opponent.
