Wine and Rhymes

Flint, Mi - When the community speaks you listen, and this community has a lot to say. On Friday September 27th at the Queen's Provisions in Flint, Jeff Skigh held his second Wine and Rhymes event. As the name implies this was an evening of wine and pouring your heart out in rhythm and rhyme.

On the surface, the evening was spent drinking and enjoying some poetry. But when you see the faces in the crowd, you hear the words being said, you can feel that an evening like this is so much more.

The performers laid themselves out bare. Expressing their frustrations, their hopes, their desires, their resentments, and all these complex feelings for the community to take in. There is an unspoken relationship that is formed between the performers and audiences at an event like this. A bond formed by seeing someone's emotions packaged in rhythm and presented so vulnerably.

Do yourself a favor and come out to experience your community like this.
