Cafe Brûlée Ribbon Cutting Brings Head Baker’s Journey Full Circle

Swartz Creek, Mi –

More than 100 people packed into Cafe Brûlée on Friday, May 1, for the bakery’s official ribbon cutting, including the Swartz Creek Mayor Nate Henry and members of the Flint & Genesee Chamber.

The Cafe had an assortment of pastries and baked goods set out, while flights of drinks were being served for guests to sample.

Andrew Younger, Executive Director of the Flint & Genesee Chamber, welcomed guests and introduced Head Baker Belle Massoud ahead of the ribbon cutting.

“Growing up in Swartz Creek, this community has always been about connections, support, and pride.

that’s exactly what Cafe Brûlée hopes to reflect”

“It’s Meant to be a welcoming space where people can gather, slow down and eat something made with care.”

During Massoud’s remarks, she thanked the team at Pesto’s, where she got her start in high school. She also thanked Pesto’s and Cafe Brûlée owner Rich Redmer, who in his own right is a Culinary Institute of America-trained Executive Chef. Before wrapping up her comments she also made sure to thank Fireside Coffee for all of their help and guidance throughout the process.

The journey started across the street and bringing it full circle eleven years later, she’s Head Baker of Cafe Brûlée.

I had a moment to speak with Belle Massoud and asked about the experience as Head Baker so far.

“I am just so grateful.

We have such a great support staff, and the creative Freedom I’ve been given has Made for such an amazing experience.”

When asked why the ribbon cutting came a few months after the bakery first opened, Massoud’s response was,

“Who wants to throw a party in the middle of a Michigan winter?”.
