Flint, Mi –
The Flint Firebirds hit the road tonight for Game 4 of their first-round series against the Owen Sound Attack with a chance to finish the sweep. Flint leads the series 3-0 and has dominated all three games, with an overall score differential of 29-2.
If they close it out tonight, the Firebirds will advance to face the winner of the series between the Windsor Spitfires and the Guelph Storm. Windsor holds a 3-0 series lead and could be next up.
The Flint City Bucks are also back in action tonight in U.S. Open Cup play, hosting USL Championship side, Detroit City FC in Grand Blanc at Don Batchelor Stadium as they look to push deeper into the tournament.
They’ll have some key additions since the last match. Team captain Ellis Jones returns to reinforce the back line, stepping in for what the club is calling its most important game since moving to Flint. Jones was named to the USL League Two Central Conference Team of the Year in 2025 and helped anchor a defense that recorded six clean sheets while finishing tied for the third-fewest goals allowed in the conference.
Oakland Golden Grizzlies standout Jace Foster is set to join the team and bolster the defense.
Sixteen players from the team’s 2-0 win over Forward Madison FC return, including Jack Roman, who helped create both goals, along with scorer Jordy Lopez and goalkeeper Isaiah Goldson, who recorded a clean sheet with four saves. Key players like Wes Carnevale and Tweneboa “Bingo” Kodua are also back. Exclusively for Open Cup play they will also be joined by Flint alumni Matt Dreas and Daire “Daz” O’Riordan.
